Bumper pool is a game for two to four players. Much like regular pool, the object of bumper pool is to shoot each of your balls into the pockets. If one player shoots his ball into his opponent's cup, however, that player must forfeit. Each player or team is given five balls.
Bumper pool tables offer tremendous versatility. Most tables, in fact, also serve as a poker table and dining table; for those looking to set up a gaming area in a room with limited space, this convenience factor cannot be ignored.
Poker players should find three-in-one bumper pool tables to be a particularly good value. The top section, which serves as the flat tabletop, and the second section, which is the poker table, can be easily removed when it's time to play bumper pool. These tables are usually octagonal in shape, whereas standard dedicated bumper pool tables are most often rectangular.
Bumper pool is not commonplace in home gaming stores in many parts of North America. Selection is often fairly limited, but the Internet is a great place to find models that may not be available locally. One should expect to pay at least $500 for a good quality table; three-in-one tables typically retail for between $600 and $2500.
